Boss Tips
Starseer Boss
This and the Sorcerer boss can be made very easy if you have the following:
Dancer Divine Skill - Causes the target ally's single target abilities to target all for 3 turns.
Cleric Reflection Skill
Saving Grace (Cleric's 4th support skill that allows healing beyond max HP) on everyone
BP Boosts
This boss uses elemental attacks that will hit your entire party 3 times.
If you use the Dancer's Divine skill and target a Cleric, the Cleric will be able to use Reflective Veil on your entire party at once. This will cause you to reflect all of the elemental attacks back to the boss.
You will want to stack at least 3 Reflects before the boss attacks to ensure you reflect them all. If you do, you will reflect 12 attacks back to the boss, since everyone gets hit 3 times.
This makes the fight very easy and you basically just wait for the boss to kill themself. Sometimes she is weak to the elements she attacks with, so she will break her own shields.
Just be sure to give a BP boost to your Dancer the first turn so they can use their divine skill, then continue to BP boost your Cleric to keep reflect up.
The only thing you will need to worry about with this setup is when the boss uses Restore Balance. This will take off all buffs and stop them from gaining buffs for 5 turns. She only targets a single person with this, so it's best to just let that character die and revive them.
Saving Grace is so you can have more than your max HP after healing, which helps you survive hits.
Sorcerer Boss
You can follow the same strategy for the Sorcerer boss, but there are a few differences.
This boss has a similar attack to the Starseer's Restore Balance, except it will target your entire party. This makes him more of a threat, but still not that bad with the right setup.
He will also debuff your elemental defense and buff his own, which pretty much guarantees death if you can't reflect.
Runelord Boss
I found this to be the hardest boss, but you can still make it much easier with the right setup.
Saving Grace
Dancer Divine Skill
Apothecary with Rehabilitate
Physical Defense, or a Tank
BP Boosts
You cannot reflect damage back to this boss, and his damage is based on physical attack.
He will constantly use elemental runes that will deal damage and cause a status ailment. You can negate this annoyance by using the Dancer divine skill on an Apothecary, then Rehabilitate on your group.
You will still take damage, but now you won't have to worry about any of those status ailments.
Since you are taking physical damage mostly, increasing that with either the Dancer's Mole Dance, or using Incite on a Warrior that can survive a lot of damage gets you past the that.
All of his attacks will only hit one ally one time at first. Later in the fight, he scatters his runes. This allows him to hit your entire party, but still one hit.
Eventually he will combine all his runes. When this happens, he is going to unleash a 6-hit attack on of your party members that will most likely kill them if they don't have high HP and defense.
Luckily, he doesn't do a lot of damage to your group at once like the other bosses, so just focus on keeping your status immunity up.
Warmaster Boss
This boss can be very difficult, but if you unlock Runeblade first, it becomes much easier with Tressa.
Runeblade Tressa (Transfer Rune + Sidestep)
BP Boosts
Yeah, it's that simple. This boss uses multi-hit physical attacks on your entire party at once. And they hurt. A lot.
Runeblade Tressa is your team's savior on this fight. Transfer Rune allows her to use her self-target abilities on the entire party. This includes Sidestep, with allows you to evade a physical attack once.
Keep giving BP boosts to Tressa and use Sidestep. Congratulations! Now you can't be hit by the boss and can just damage her until you win.
The boss does attack a lot, so be sure to stack Sidestep as much as possible.
That's it for my guide on the hidden secondary Jobs in Octopath Traveler and their bosses.
